Which company this profile covers
Damm is a Spanish beverages, food, food-service and distribution group headed by Sociedad Anónima Damm. Its registered office is at Carrer del Rosselló 515, Barcelona; its legal notice gives tax identifier A08000820. Estrella Damm is one of its beer brands, whereas SA Damm is a legal entity and Damm also names the wider business group. Figures in this profile concern the group and the explicitly stated reporting populations, rather than only the Estrella Damm brand or the parent company’s individual sales. From the 1876 brewery to a diversified group
August Kuentzmann Damm and his wife Melanie opened their Barcelona brewery in 1876. The corporate timeline dates Joseph Damm’s acquisition of the company to 1897, the opening of La Bohèmia to 1905 and the incorporation of SA Damm to 1910: the business’s origins and legal incorporation are different milestones. Later developments included brands such as Voll-Damm and Free Damm, expansion at El Prat and diversification into water, distribution and food service. The Rosselló building retains corporate and cultural functions; it does not represent the entire current manufacturing network. Ownership and management: Damm within DISA
Portugal’s Autoridade da Concorrência identifies SA Damm as a subsidiary of the DISA Group in its decision of 25 June 2025. Damm has its own identity and reporting, but its figures should not be added to DISA’s as if they were economically independent groups. This profile does not assign current ownership percentages without sufficient documentation. The 2025 annual report identifies Demetrio Carceller Arce as executive chairman and Jorge Villavecchia Barnach-Calbó as managing director; María Carceller Arce is listed as chief executive of Damm Restauración and Distribución Directa Integral. Information consulted on 8 November 2026. Autoridade da Concorrência: Damm/A Padaria Portuguesa, 25 June 2025, PDF p. 3; Damm: 2025 annual report, PDF p. 15.
Business model and value chain
The business links beverage production and packaging, brand marketing, distribution to hospitality and food retailers, and operation of food-service outlets. COCEDA produces beer, soft drinks and water; Maltería La Moravia makes malt; Distribución Directa Integral serves the hospitality channel. Rodilla and A Padaria Portuguesa add food production and customer-facing operations. This combination brings together factories, warehouses, delivery work, offices, food-production facilities and shops, with different prevention needs. Brands marketed under agreements should not be confused with wholly owned legal entities. Products, brands and activities
The portfolio includes Estrella Damm, Voll-Damm, Free Damm, Daura, Inedit and brands associated with different regions, such as Estrella de Levante, Victoria and Turia. Veri and Fuente Liviana belong to the water business. Damm began producing and marketing Nestea in 2025 under its agreement with Nestlé; the annual report locates production of its flavours and formats at Salem. Food-service operations include Rodilla, Jamaica Coffee Shop, Café de Indias, Hamburguesa Nostra and A Padaria Portuguesa. SetPoint Events and Rumbo Sport organise events, an activity distinct from beverage manufacturing. Markets, factories and expansion
The 2025 report places the group’s commercial presence in more than 130 countries, with Spain its main market. Facilities include COCEDA’s El Prat de Llobregat, El Puig and Salem plants, Estrella de Levante in Espinardo, Cervezas Victoria in Málaga, Veri and Fuente Liviana water plants, COCEDA Portugal in Santarém and The Damm Eagle Brewery in Bedford. Portugal’s competition authority authorised Damm Restauración’s acquisition of A Padaria Portuguesa on 25 June 2025; the non-financial statement dates its incorporation into the group to 1 August. Its activity data therefore cover only August–December 2025, rather than the full year. Economic scale: the 2025 financial year
The annual report’s financial table gives 2025 revenue of €2,010 million, compared with €2,025 million in 2024. Profit attributable to the parent was €155 million, compared with €175 million, and operating profit was €173 million, compared with €188 million. These are Damm group figures, expressed in millions of euros for the annual reporting period. The June 2026 results announcement corroborates turnover of €2,010 million. The source used is the company’s financial summary: this profile does not present it as a direct review of the complete financial statements and their audit report. Damm: 2025 annual report, PDF p. 120; Damm: 2025 results, announcement of 23 June 2026.
Workforce and employment relations
The non-financial statement records 6,393 people at 31 December 2025 within its reporting scope, including 4,838 in Spain and 1,228 in Portugal. These are people, not full-time equivalents: 5,298 worked full time and 1,095 part time; 5,728 contracts were permanent and 665 temporary. The addition of A Padaria Portuguesa and adjustments involving Alfil Logistics and Cafés Garriga limit straightforward comparisons with earlier years. The report states 100% collective-agreement coverage for the included workforce in Spain and Portugal. The existence of agreements does not by itself establish uniform conditions across all group companies. Data, artificial intelligence and distribution pilots
Damm presented IAmm in March 2025 as a data and artificial-intelligence centre at the Old Brewery, with around 100 professionals. Its stated purpose is to improve processes and decisions across the business. The annual report distinguishes open-innovation initiatives from routine deployment: it describes DDI pilots involving a Drop and Roll platform to assist keg unloading and an automated pallet prototype to move beer from lorry to outlet. These are developments and trials; the cited documentation does not quantify resulting injury reductions or establish deployment across the entire fleet. OSH management and the scope of ISO 45001
The 2025 documentation describes a prevention system involving risk assessment, action plans, line-management involvement and worker representation. The annual report states that 39% of the workforce was covered by an ISO 45001-certified management system. The non-financial statement reports audits at Fuente Liviana, Veri and Damm, and renewals at Estrella de Levante and COCEDA—El Prat, El Puig and Salem—with scope including Maltería La Moravia. This is the coverage reported for 2025: it neither certifies the entire group nor automatically establishes the validity of every individual certificate in November 2026. Damm: 2025 annual report, PDF p. 26; Damm: 2025 non-financial statement, PDF p. 67.
Heat and workplace atmospheres: site-specific controls
The non-financial statement documents 2025 heat controls in packaging areas at El Prat, El Puig and Salem: adiabatic cooling units, fans, air conditioning and ventilation. Salem installed an evaporative cooler at a new packaging line and two units in container-loading areas. El Puig improved extraction and its CO₂ delivery system to prevent harmful accumulations. The report also describes measures at Bedford and Estrella de Levante, insulation at Fuente Liviana and technical and organisational protocols informed by heat-stress measurements. El Prat continued monitoring particularly sensitive workers. These are company-reported measures; the source does not quantify a causal clinical outcome. Damm: 2025 non-financial statement, PDF p. 68; Damm: 2025 non-financial statement, PDF p. 69.
Ergonomics, occupational health and work organisation
Prevention and occupational-health teams cooperate on task adaptations for people particularly sensitive to specific risks, generally using ergonomic measures. In 2025, follow-up to El Prat’s psychosocial assessment led to a workload study in quality and logistics; Grupo Rodilla expanded its psychosocial assessments and updated its action plan. Rodilla also provided ergonomic training linked to workstation adaptations. At A Padaria Portuguesa, audits with WorkCare cover ergonomics, chemical hazards, machinery and emergency preparedness. The source establishes specific processes and actions; it does not report a uniform reduction in musculoskeletal disorders or mental-health problems throughout the group. Damm: 2025 non-financial statement, PDF p. 70; Damm: 2025 non-financial statement, PDF p. 71; Damm: 2025 non-financial statement, PDF p. 74.
Participation, contractors and prevention training
The annual report states that 86% of the workforce was represented through health and safety committees in 2025: 96.3% in beverages and food, 46% in logistics and distribution, and 95.73% in food service. This concerns preventive representation, not certification coverage. The non-financial statement describes regular meetings with external companies’ managers and documentary coordination for deliveries and commercial work at customer sites. Safety training is incorporated into new machinery, services and processes. Rodilla provides induction and supervisor training; A Padaria Portuguesa reports training in first aid, firefighting, evacuation and emergency preparedness. Damm: 2025 annual report, PDF p. 26; Damm: 2025 non-financial statement, PDF p. 70; Damm: 2025 non-financial statement, PDF p. 71; Damm: 2025 non-financial statement, PDF p. 74.
Work accidents and occupational diseases in 2025
The non-financial statement reports 69 work accidents in beverages and food, unchanged from 2024; 124 in food service, compared with 31; none in logistics and distribution, compared with one; and one in content management, compared with none. Food service includes A Padaria Portuguesa for the first time, with 72 accidents during the included period. The company says most were minor and concentrated among employees with less than one year’s service; it also acknowledges an upward trend at Rodilla. It additionally reports two occupational diseases, across COCEDA and Rodilla, accounting for 65 working days of absence. The wider reporting population prevents interpreting the food-service increase as a constant-scope trend. Damm: 2025 non-financial statement, PDF p. 73; Damm: 2025 non-financial statement, PDF p. 74; Damm: 2025 non-financial statement, PDF p. 116.
How to interpret the published indices
For beverages and food, the statement reports a frequency index of 14.8 in both 2025 and 2024, and severity of 0.27 versus 0.26. In food service it reports frequency of 32.3 versus 14.9 and severity of 0.44 versus 0.19. There is an important methodological limitation: the table’s notes place hours in the numerator and accidents or lost days in the denominator, an apparently inverted formula that prevents validating the calculation. Values are reproduced here as reported indices, without silently correcting the source, assigning unverified units or equating them with TRIR or LTIFR. The table also does not establish full contractor coverage or that every case involved lost time. Damm: 2025 non-financial statement, PDF p. 73; Damm: 2025 non-financial statement, PDF p. 74.
Water, resources and environmental sustainability
Water is both a raw material and an operational requirement. The 2025 annual report describes consumption monitoring, recovery of water within industrial processes and improvements to cleaning and treatment. It reports 4.26 hectolitres of water per hectolitre of packaged beer and 1.84 for water and soft drinks; these ratios concern different activities and are not OSH measures. It also documents a shared Llobregat aquifer-recharge project and describes a reclaimed-water connection as planned for 2026. That plan is not presented here as completed, and the shared project’s results are not attributed entirely to Damm. Damm: 2025 annual report, PDF p. 78; Damm: 2025 annual report, PDF p. 79.
Challenges: growth, integration and comparability
Revenue and profit attributable to the parent were lower in 2025 than in 2024, despite international and business expansion. The integration of food-service operations adds tasks and employee groups requiring specific monitoring: the non-financial statement distinguishes A Padaria Portuguesa’s effect and acknowledges more accidents at Rodilla. In June 2026 Damm announced an objective to double turnover by 2030; this is a future ambition. Assessing progress requires separating organic growth, acquisitions, reporting-scope changes and comparable prevention outcomes, without treating business expansion as an automatic improvement in safety. Damm: 2025 annual report, PDF p. 120; Damm: 2025 non-financial statement, PDF p. 74; Damm: 2025 results, announcement of 23 June 2026.
Sabentis’s prevention perspective and evidence limits
As an editorial interpretation, this case illustrates the value of linking controls to tasks and sites: packaging-area cooling, atmospheric controls, workload and delivery coordination. General risks in manufacturing, maintenance, manual handling or customer-facing work require specific assessment; they do not establish additional measures at Damm. The non-financial statement includes an EY limited-assurance report dated 26 March 2026 covering information identified in its statutory contents table. That work is not a reasonable-assurance audit of every statement and does not remove the methodological inconsistencies noted above. Documented actions should be read alongside accidents, occupational diseases and scope changes. Frequently asked questions
Are Damm and Estrella Damm the same?
Not exactly. Damm names the business group headed by Sociedad Anónima Damm; Estrella Damm is one of its beer brands. Group revenue and workforce figures do not concern that brand alone. Damm: 2025 non-financial statement, PDF p. 3; Damm: 2025 non-financial statement, PDF p. 4. [1]
Is it a Spanish company and which group owns it?
Sociedad Anónima Damm is registered in Barcelona. Portugal’s competition authority identifies it as a DISA Group subsidiary in its June 2025 decision. This profile preserves the Damm reporting scope and avoids adding it independently to DISA’s figures. Damm: legal notice and registered office; Autoridade da Concorrência: Damm/A Padaria Portuguesa, 25 June 2025, PDF p. 3. [1] · [2]
What was Damm’s revenue in 2025?
The annual report’s financial summary gives group revenue of €2,010 million, compared with €2,025 million in 2024. The June 2026 results announcement corroborates 2025 turnover. The figure is not presented as the individual sales of SA Damm or the Estrella Damm brand. Damm: 2025 annual report, PDF p. 120; Damm: 2025 results, announcement of 23 June 2026. [1] · [2]
Which company-specific OSH actions are documented?
The 2025 non-financial statement describes heat controls at El Prat, El Puig and Salem, controls against CO₂ accumulation at El Puig, a workload study in El Prat’s quality and logistics departments and expanded psychosocial assessments at Rodilla. These concern specific sites and groups, rather than a uniform programme proven effective throughout the group. Damm: 2025 non-financial statement, PDF p. 68; Damm: 2025 non-financial statement, PDF p. 69; Damm: 2025 non-financial statement, PDF p. 70. [1]
Does ISO 45001 cover everyone at Damm?
No. The 2025 annual report states that 39% of the workforce was covered by an ISO 45001-certified system. Representation through health and safety committees is a different indicator, reported at 86%. Neither percentage establishes current certification for every company or site without examining its scope. Damm: 2025 annual report, PDF p. 26; Damm: 2025 non-financial statement, PDF p. 67. [1] · [2]
Can its accident indices be compared directly?
Not without clarification. A Padaria Portuguesa’s inclusion changes the food-service reporting scope, and the printed formulas apparently invert hours and cases or days. This profile retains the reported indices and adverse outcomes but does not convert them into international rates or infer an overall improvement. Damm: 2025 non-financial statement, PDF p. 73; Damm: 2025 non-financial statement, PDF p. 74; Damm: 2025 non-financial statement, PDF p. 116. [1]
