Europastry: a Spanish company and an international group
Europastry develops, manufactures and markets frozen bakery and pastry products. Its parent company is Europastry, S.A., with Spanish tax identification number A58695032 and a published registered office at Plaza Xavier Cugat 2, building C, floor 4, Sant Cugat del Vallès, Barcelona. The corporate name identifies an organisation with subsidiaries and operations in several countries.
This profile covers the global group when discussing sales, expansion and products, and identifies individual sites when discussing occupational safety and health (OSH). An initiative at Sarral or certification reported for Rubí is not automatically attributed to every company in the group.

Bakery origins and legal incorporation
The corporate history dates Europastry’s origins to 1987, when Pere Gallés established the business using freezing technology to preserve and distribute bakery products. The addition of Fripan in 1988 and Frida in 2002 forms part of the development described by the company.
The prospectus registered in 2024 provides a legal distinction: the company was incorporated on 28 April 1988 under the name Inbar, S.A. The business’s 1987 origins and the incorporation date of its present parent company therefore refer to different events.

Founding family, investors and the 2026 capital increase
The September 2024 prospectus described majority control by the Gallés family and MCH’s investment. That historical ownership structure must be separated from a subsequent capital increase: a COFIDES release dated 5 November 2026 reports a €300 million transaction led by MCH Fund, including €49.6 million invested through FIEX.
COFIDES confirms that Europastry has acquired 100% of Highland Baking in the United States. Its statement does not provide a complete updated ownership breakdown for Europastry; this profile does not present the percentages in the 2024 prospectus as current after the transaction.

Leadership and the withdrawn stock market offering
The 2025 annual report identifies Jordi Gallés as chairman and Jordi Morral as chief executive officer. Morral also signed the May 2025 integrated policy as CEO. These are distinct roles in the group’s leadership.
On 8 October 2024, Europastry notified the CNMV that it was withdrawing its share offering and planned admission to trading, citing market instability associated with the geopolitical situation. Ownership and financing projections following that offering must not be treated as completed transactions.

Frozen products for several sales channels
The business combines bread, pastries and cakes, savoury specialities and American bakery products such as cookies and muffins. It serves bakeries, retailers and foodservice through manufacturing, product development and marketing.
The range covers different preparation requirements: dough and products needing finishing, alongside fully baked products consumed after thawing in accordance with their instructions. This variety means that the entire portfolio should not be understood as either raw dough or ready-to-serve bread.

Brands, ranges and collaborations
The report presents Saint Honoré and Gran Reserva bread, Cristallino pan de cristal, Le Brió brioche, Sophie pastries and Dots products with fillings and coatings. Chousa identifies a range of Galician empanadas, while Saudade covers Portuguese specialities.
It also describes product development with third-party brands such as Biscoff, KitKat and Nocilla. These are product collaborations and licensing arrangements: their appearance in the portfolio does not mean that Europastry owns those brands.
Manufacturing sites in Spain
The network described by the company includes Vallmoll and Sarral in Tarragona; Rubí and Barberà del Vallès in Barcelona; Paterna in Valencia; Azuqueca de Henares in Guadalajara; and plants in Tenerife and Lugo. Their specialities cover bread, pastries and savoury products, with differences between sites.
The March 2026 release identifies a €38 million investment in Azuqueca to expand the plant with a brioche line. It describes a project under development at that date; it is not used to claim that the expansion was already operational at the end of 2025.
Europastry: 2025 annual report, PDF pp. 26–29 · Europastry: 2025 results, 25 March 2026.
Expansion and the scope of the network
The report records the acquisition of 60% of Art of Baking in Thailand, the addition of Van Eck in the Netherlands and the purchase of 100% of Frisalgados in Portugal in 2025. These are separate from the US acquisition of Highland Baking confirmed by COFIDES in November 2026.
The corporate website consulted on 8 November 2026 lists 26 plants and commercial operations in more than 90 countries. The report titled 2025 includes Highland’s Northbrook and Spartanburg facilities in its maps. The network is therefore interpreted as subsequently updated, rather than as a fixed inventory at 31 December 2025.

Global sales in 2025 and the evidence used
Europastry reported sales of €1.630 billion in 2025, an 8% increase over 2024. The annual report labels the amount as a net value and gives a 2024 comparator of €1.506 billion. The figure covers the global business presented by the group, rather than Spanish sales alone.
The evidence used is the corporate annual report and the March 2026 results release. A complete set of 2025 consolidated financial statements and the accompanying audit opinion has not been examined here. The figure is therefore not labelled audited, and subsidiary sales that could duplicate it are not added.

Cereal Labs and product development
Europastry organises innovation through Cereal Labs. The report describes Sant Joan Despí as a connection between research, product testing and training within a network operating in other markets. It also presents Cereal Academy and collaborations with bakery and pastry professionals.
The report attributes €166 million of investment to 2025 under the heading of R&D and technology. This broad description is not converted into a pure research expense for accounting purposes. No exact year-end laboratory count is given here because different pages of the report provide different totals.

People, training and workforce-count limitations
The report describes maintenance, research, quality, finance and operations roles, together with international mobility. Training initiatives include the Europastry Leadership Path, launched in 2025 for management development, and Cereal Academy activities focused on bakery skills.
The document gives more than 7,000 people in one summary and more than 6,640 in its workforce section, without reconciling the dates and reporting boundaries there. This profile does not select either as an exact consolidated year-end headcount. Attendance at a safety event is likewise not equivalent to the group’s total workforce.

OSH: the 2025 policy and the scope of ISO 45001
Europastry, S.A.’s integrated policy, dated 5 May 2025, commits to eliminating hazards, reducing risks, training staff and enabling consultation and participation by workers and their representatives. It is a management statement; on its own it does not demonstrate implementation of every measure or an accident outcome.
The 2025 report states that the Rubí plant holds ISO 45001 certification. For Sarral and Art of Baking it mentions ISO 14001, which concerns environmental management. ISO 45001 is not extended to those sites or to the entire group; the validity of an individual certificate has not been established here through its expiry date. BRCGS, IFS and SQF food certifications serve a different purpose.

Sarral: a documented company safety-training case
The 2024 Asepeyo awards monograph documents Europastry’s P-A-S campaign, Pruébalo–Atrévete–Sonríe, in Sarral. The case explains that growth in activity and staffing had been accompanied by accidents, particularly lost-time cases, and that the previous lecture-based training generated limited engagement according to the account presented.
The events took place on 30 January and 13 February 2023, with approximately 500 participants and groups distributed across shifts. Maintenance personnel received a specific programme. The initiative was a finalist in preventive awareness, rather than an award winner or a certification of the OSH management system.
Asepeyo: Europastry Sarral case, 2024 monograph, PDF pp. 159–161.
Workshops, maintenance and emergency response
The Sarral programme addressed issues identified at the plant: musculoskeletal disorders, traffic, maintenance and impacts against objects. It combined training by the site’s prevention team, virtual reality on fires, goggles simulating the effects of alcohol and drugs, warm-up exercises and breaks, theatre-based training and an emergency drill with SGS.
The maintenance programme added training on the new fire-protection system, input from its manager and the shared drill. The case is relevant because it adapts content to particular tasks and groups. It does not establish that stretching exercises can replace assessment and ergonomic redesign of work.
Asepeyo: Europastry Sarral case, 2024 monograph, PDF pp. 161–162.
What the Sarral results can establish
The published case reports subsequent periods without reported accidents: one month and one week in building 1, one month and three days in building 2, and four months in maintenance. It also records the company’s perception of improved communication and more safety suggestions.
These are historical, bounded observations, without a comparable series of exposure hours, rates or a control group in the case. They do not establish that the campaign caused the entire improvement, that no accidents occurred in 2025, or that the programme was fully implemented across all plants. The intention to extend the events is distinguished from verified implementation.

Paterna: another documented safety day in 2023
On 8 November 2023, the Fuente del Jarro Management and Modernisation Entity published an account of the safety day at the Paterna plant. It describes approximately 150 participants and activities covering first aid, ergonomics, firefighting, work at height and elevating platforms, alongside a driving simulator.
The organisation, whose manager attended, reports participation by the plant’s entire workforce. This documents a local, dated event. It is not equivalent to annual training coverage across Europastry and does not by itself demonstrate a sustained reduction in injuries.

A contractor fatality and preventive coordination
In a statement dated 4 August 2021, CCOO reported the death of a Dematic employee following an accident on 30 July in Sarral while maintaining a stacker crane in cold-storage chambers. The union called for investigation of the causes and stronger coordination between companies.
The victim is identified as a contractor’s employee, rather than an employee of Europastry. The source is a contemporary union statement; it does not establish a final regulatory or judicial decision or allocate legal liability. The case provides a specific historical reference for managing maintenance interventions and work involving several employers.
Resources, sustainability and interpreting commitments
The report describes photovoltaic installations and energy changes at Sarral, as well as the Trigo Responsable programme with farmers in Lleida, Huesca and Albacete. These are environmental and sourcing initiatives with their own scope; they do not constitute evidence of fewer occupational accidents.
Interpreting the overall picture requires keeping 2025 sales, the 2026 corporate expansion, the 2023 safety cases and management commitments distinct. This profile retains those dates and boundaries so that documented developments can be assessed without turning statements or local examples into universal outcomes.
