Companies

The parent company and this profile’s scope

Grupo Fuertes is a Spanish business group headquartered in Alhama de Murcia. Its parent is Grupo Empresarial Fuertes, S.L.; Grupo Corporativo Fuertes, S.L. is a wholly owned company providing corporate services. ElPozo Alimentación, S.A. is an operating company within the group, while ELPOZO is also a commercial brand. These references do not describe the same economic perimeter.

The 2025 non-financial report covers the main companies over whose social and environmental impacts the group exercises control. It excludes equity-accounted companies and certain smaller entities, so its scope does not fully match financial consolidation. This distinction matters when interpreting workforce and occupational safety and health data.

Family origins and industrial production since 1954

Alhama Town Council attributes the business’s origins to Antonio Fuertes Sánchez and documents its subsequent development by his children José, Tomás and Juana Fuertes Fernández. ElPozo’s history dates the start of industrial sausage production to 1954. This describes the project’s industrial origins, rather than the incorporation of every present-day company.

The refrigerated slaughterhouse and cutting facilities were added in 1971; the factory inaugurated in 1979 supported a further period of expansion. Subsequent development combined integrated livestock production, food processing and diversification into other businesses. In 2005, ElPozo opened an early-childhood centre for employees’ children aged up to three.

Family ownership and documented leadership

The 2025 report describes a Spanish family-owned group involving the second and third generations. It identifies a board and group management bodies, with Grupo Corporativo Fuertes carrying out coordination and service functions. The family composition reported for that year should not be read as an individual shareholding distribution valid at any later date.

Tomás Fuertes is identified as chairman in an ElPozo communication dated 30 March 2026. José Fuertes Fernández, who had been chief executive, died in February 2026, as confirmed by the town council and the corporate communication. This profile does not assign that role to a successor without a verified public appointment.

Food businesses and diversification

The meat business includes ElPozo Alimentación, livestock farming at Cefusa and Agropor, turkey production at Procavi, and food portioning and packaging at Sediasa. The food portfolio also includes Fripozo frozen products, Aquadeus and Solares mineral water, Bodegas Luzón wines and Palancares cheeses.

Diversified activities include AEMEDSA speciality chemicals, Profusa property development and Terra Natura parks. Processes and exposures differ between these companies. A certificate, healthcare service or preventive measure documented for one company cannot automatically be extended to the whole group.

Acquisitions announced in 2026

On 30 July 2026 the group announced its acquisition of Tolvasa–Paasa, expanding into chicken production. On 7 September it announced the purchase of Jamones Albarracín, which provides ham salting, drying and curing services for third parties. On 9 October it announced the acquisition of Nutrave, a poultry business based in Bargas, Toledo.

The Nutrave announcement states that its three founding families retain an interest in the company. It is therefore not presented as a 100% acquisition. Announced investment and continuity commitments are corporate plans; these 2026 transactions are not retrospectively added to 2025 financial or OSH results.

2025 turnover: EUR 2,761 million

The non-financial report states turnover of EUR 2,761 million in 2025, up 8.8% from 2024. The same page presents a separate EUR 2,772 million measure comprising net sales, interest and financial income. This profile uses the amount explicitly labelled turnover and preserves the distinction between these measures.

These are figures published by the group in its non-financial information. Limited assurance over that report does not mean that a financial audit opinion on the complete consolidated accounts has been inspected here. Individual sales of ElPozo or other subsidiaries should not be added to the group figure, since that would duplicate activity already included.

An annual average of 9,230 employees

The 2025 personnel section reports an average effective workforce of 9,230 employees, up 6.2% from the preceding year. This is an annual average of active employment, rather than year-end headcount or total indirect employment. Women account for 29% of this reporting population and production workers for 81.5%.

The personnel-data note excludes ElPozo Portugal, France and Shanghai from its human-resources consolidation. The non-financial report also has its own reporting perimeter. This headcount should therefore not be used automatically as a denominator for injury rates, which require hours and populations consistent with the numerator.

Prevention services and assessment of work

The 2025 report describes external prevention services and in-house services at ElPozo, Cefusa, Fripozo and Procavi. The arrangements combine technical disciplines and health surveillance according to each company’s organisational model. This description concerns companies included in the report, rather than every financial investment held by the group.

Risk identification and assessment use INSST guidance as a reference and are organised by area and job. Periodic reviews, corrective measures and internal and external audits are described. The documentation establishes a declared working system; it does not demonstrate that every risk at every workstation has been eliminated.

Grupo Fuertes 2025 non-financial report, p. 43 (PDF p. 44).

Prevention training: ergonomics, chemicals and forklifts

Grupo Fuertes reports 9,264 hours of occupational risk prevention training during 2025, approximately 14% of all training. Identified subjects include ergonomics and posture to prevent musculoskeletal disorders, chemical storage and handling, and forklift operation.

These subjects relate to the group’s production, cleaning, warehouse and maintenance tasks. Hours demonstrate training activity but do not, by themselves, quantify a reduction in exposure or injuries. This section of the report does not provide a separate preventive outcome attributable to each course.

Grupo Fuertes 2025 non-financial report, p. 44 (PDF p. 45).

Committees and hazard reporting

Cefusa, ElPozo Alimentación, Fripozo, Procavi, Sediasa and Palancares have health and safety committees, according to the report. They meet quarterly and cover 91.1% of employees within the reported scope. That percentage does not mean that the remaining 8.9% lack every form of consultation or prevention.

Employees can report hazards and suggestions through physical or digital suggestion boxes and their supervisors. The report describes incident investigation, root-cause analysis and follow-up of actions. Preventive value depends on those communications leading to decisions, resources and checks on the changes made.

Grupo Fuertes 2025 non-financial report, p. 44 (PDF p. 45).

Healthcare and programmes at specific companies

ElPozo reports two medical centres providing 24-hour care, alongside a pharmacy, clinical psychology and physiotherapy. Procavi operates an Escuela de Salud with a specific back-health programme. These are company-specific examples, rather than identical benefits offered to everyone throughout the group.

The report also describes internal communications on health, hygiene and ergonomics. Healthcare and healthy-lifestyle promotion complement assessment of work but do not replace necessary changes to loads, work pace, equipment or substances. No clinical effectiveness or reduction in injuries is attributed to programmes whose outcomes the source does not quantify.

Grupo Fuertes 2025 non-financial report, p. 45 (PDF p. 46).

Accidents with and without time off in 2025

The 2025 table records 1,024 occupational accidents involving time off: 683 among men and 341 among women. It also records 594 accidents without time off, comprising 378 among men and 216 among women. The group reports no deaths from occupational accidents that year within the reporting scope.

The absence of deaths does not mean an absence of harm: cases involving time off are a significant aspect of preventive performance. The table does not support extending the figures to all contractors, investments or companies acquired in 2026. This profile does not assume a treatment of commuting accidents that is not explicitly stated in the consulted section.

Grupo Fuertes 2025 non-financial report, p. 46 (PDF p. 47) · Grupo Fuertes 2025 non-financial report, p. 47 (PDF p. 48).

Occupational diseases and limits to comparison

The occupational-disease table records 89 cases involving time off in 2025: 50 among men and 39 among women. It adds 76 without time off, comprising 44 among men and 32 among women. These categories are distinct from accidents and are not added together here to construct a new rate.

The report publishes indicators with different bases and definitions. Without sufficient reconciliation between cases, hours and coverage, this profile retains the counts and does not recalculate rates or infer a comparable trend. Careful interpretation does not reduce the importance of the musculoskeletal demands addressed by the company’s own prevention programmes.

ISO 45001: two identified companies

The 2025 report identifies AEMEDSA and CEFUSA as having systems certified to ISO 45001:2018. This is a statement about specific companies and the reporting year. It does not establish that Grupo Empresarial Fuertes and all its subsidiaries hold a common certificate, or determine the current validity of each individual certificate.

Food safety, quality certification and healthy-workplace programmes serve different purposes. In particular, Procavi’s work towards a health-related certification described in the report is not treated here as certification already awarded. No label is interpreted as a guarantee of zero accidents.

Grupo Fuertes 2025 non-financial report, p. 43 (PDF p. 44) · Grupo Fuertes 2025 non-financial report, p. 45 (PDF p. 46).

Shifts, rest and disconnection from work

The report describes common arrangements of a split working day within a 40-hour week for support and management staff, and continuous eight-hour morning, afternoon and night shifts for ElPozo production workers. Actual arrangements depend on the company, activity and collective agreement; this pattern is not presented as universal.

The document acknowledges that the group had not formalised policies on disconnection from work. It does describe practices such as automatic email replies during holidays, redistribution of tasks, and meetings and training within working hours. This distinction recognises both the actions reported and the limitation expressly acknowledged by the company.

A union prevention demand at ElPozo

In September 2026, USO proposed facilitating job changes for ElPozo employees with ten years of knife work and promoting earlier retirement for arduous meat-sector work, including the company’s drivers. These are dated, attributed union demands, rather than implemented measures or a ruling establishing breaches.

The reporting channel and its conclusions

The group reports receiving 77 complaints through its channel in 2025, compared with 46 in 2024, mostly concerning employment-related conflicts between employees. The Ethics and Compliance Committee reviewed the communications under the internal procedure. The report attributes the increase to greater use of a simplified tool allowing anonymous reports.

According to the company, admitted complaints did not conclude in legal or ethical-code breaches or sanctions. This is the corporate conclusion concerning that channel, rather than proof that no external employment disputes existed. The number of communications should not be read as 77 proven infringements.

What AENOR verified and what remains outside its scope

The non-financial report covers 1 January to 31 December 2025 and includes an AENOR verification statement dated 9 July 2026. The engagement involved limited assurance, information review and selective testing. Its conclusion concerns non-financial information and the applicable reporting criteria.

That assurance level is not an absolute guarantee, general OSH certification or a financial audit opinion. Using this profile for comparisons or prevention decisions requires retaining the date, specific company, exclusions and definition of each figure, particularly in view of subsequent additions to the group.

Frequently asked questions

Are Grupo Fuertes and ElPozo the same entity?

No. Grupo Empresarial Fuertes, S.L. is the parent; ElPozo Alimentación, S.A. is an operating company within the group and ELPOZO is also a brand. Grupo Corporativo Fuertes provides corporate services. Group turnover should not be confused with an individual subsidiary’s turnover. [1]

Who started the business and who chairs it?

Alhama Town Council identifies Antonio Fuertes Sánchez as the founder of the family business, subsequently developed by José, Tomás and Juana. ElPozo dates industrial production to 1954. Tomás Fuertes is identified as chairman in March 2026; José, who had been chief executive, died in February that year. [1] · [2] · [3] · [4]

Why is turnover shown as EUR 2,761 million?

This is the amount labelled 2025 turnover in the non-financial report. The same page publishes EUR 2,772 million for a measure including net sales, interest and financial income. Both definitions are preserved, and reviewing this report is not presented as conducting a financial audit. [1]

What company-specific OSH measures are documented?

The 2025 report describes prevention services, job assessments, incident investigations, committees at six companies and 9,264 hours of prevention training. Subjects include ergonomics, chemicals and forklifts. It also identifies medical centres at ElPozo and a back-health programme at Procavi. Measures are attributed to their company and period. [1]

Do the 1,024 accidents with time off cover the entire worldwide group?

The figure belongs to the 2025 report’s OSH scope, which does not fully match financial consolidation. It is not extended to every contractor, investment or 2026 acquisition. The consulted section does not explicitly state the treatment of commuting accidents, so rates are not recalculated and universal coverage is not assumed. [1]

Does all of Grupo Fuertes hold ISO 45001 certification?

The 2025 report identifies AEMEDSA and CEFUSA. That statement does not establish certification for every subsidiary or the current validity of individual certificates. AENOR’s limited assurance over the non-financial report and food-safety certifications serve different purposes. [1]
