What Laboratorios Rovi does
Laboratorios Farmacéuticos Rovi, S.A. is the Spanish parent of a group that researches, manufactures and markets medicines. Its operations combine proprietary products, medicines distributed under agreements with other pharmaceutical companies and contract manufacturing. It was incorporated in Madrid on 21 December 1946. The registered and tax office in the 2025 accounts is Julián Camarillo, 35, Madrid; the corporate website identifies its Madrid office at José Isbert, 2, Pozuelo de Alarcón. The addresses serve different functions. Rovi 2025 consolidated accounts · Rovi corporate information and offices.
This profile uses the consolidated Rovi group as its economic unit. Its revenue is not added to that of controlling shareholder Norbel Inversiones or to sales made by its manufacturing customers. The latest complete annual reporting period available is 2025; developments in 2026 are presented with their dates. Rovi 2025 consolidated accounts · January–September 2026 results and developments.
From heparins to injectable manufacturing
Several milestones explain its industrial development: research into low molecular weight heparins from 1981, the introduction of bemiparin in Spain in 1998, and the construction of an R&D centre and plant in Granada in 2006. It became a listed company in 2007. Marketing of its enoxaparin biosimilar began in Germany in 2017 and subsequently expanded into other European markets. Rovi corporate history · Rovi business and products in 2025.
Collaboration with Moderna from 2020 increased the importance of vaccine manufacturing in its operations. Another milestone was the European authorisation of risperidone-based Okedi on 14 February 2022. These developments belong to different businesses: developing a proprietary medicine and manufacturing for another product’s owner involve different responsibilities and sources of revenue. Ownership and leadership
At year-end 2025, Norbel Inversiones, S.L. controlled 58.186% of Rovi’s capital. The accounts identify Juan, Javier and Iván López-Belmonte Encina as Norbel’s owners. The controlling stake refers to that date and does not represent each family member’s direct shareholding in Rovi. Rovi 2025 consolidated accounts.
The corporate information checked on 8 November 2026 lists Juan López-Belmonte Encina as chairman and chief executive officer. Rovi thus combines family control, a stock-market listing and executive management. This profile distinguishes the listed company, its shareholder and the group’s operating entities so that ownership, leadership and industrial activity remain separate concepts. How it earns revenue
The pharmaceutical specialties business combines medicines developed in-house with products marketed under licence. The CDMO business provides contract development and manufacturing services: formulation, aseptic filling, inspection, fitting safety devices, packaging and production of oral solid dosage forms. Research is a strategic activity that feeds the future portfolio; it does not itself constitute a separate third sales figure. Rovi business and products in 2025.
In 2025, commercial operations contributed €473.885 million in external revenue and manufacturing €269.499 million; other services contributed €0.099 million. Together these match consolidated revenue of €743.483 million. The segment table also shows €494.126 million for manufacturing before internal transactions are eliminated: adding that figure to external revenue would count group activity twice. One manufacturing customer accounted for 20% of consolidated revenue; the accounts do not name that customer in this disclosure. Rovi 2025 consolidated accounts.
Proprietary products, licences and manufacturing customers
The proprietary portfolio includes bemiparin and the enoxaparin biosimilar, both within low molecular weight heparins, and Okedi, based on the ISM prolonged-release technology. Enoxaparin’s brand name varies by market: Enoxaparina Rovi and Enoxaparin Becat are documented examples. A brand should not be confused with a subsidiary or with a medical indication applicable to every patient. Rovi business and products in 2025 · EMA: Okedi authorisation · German Enoxaparin Becat leaflet.
The portfolio also includes other owners’ products through agreements: Neparvis with Novartis, Bracco contrast agents and Rolcya with Sandoz, whose marketing in Spain began in November 2025. In CDMO, Moderna, Bristol Myers Squibb and Roche are counterparties to manufacturing agreements, not companies acquired by Rovi. The Roche project concerns a medicine under development; expectations for future sales are not revenue already earned. Companies and consolidation boundary
Rovi Pharma Industrial Services, S.A.U. —ROIS— carries out much of the group’s contract manufacturing. Consolidated companies include Pan Química Farmacéutica, Rovi Escúzar, Gineladius and Glicopepton Biotech, in which the group holds 51%. On 27 January 2025, Gineladius took control of Cells IA Technologies by reaching a 94.995% stake, bringing it into full consolidation. The 25.5% investment in Terafront Farmatech is accounted for using the equity method. Rovi 2025 consolidated accounts.
ROIS Phoenix was already within the 2025 consolidation boundary, but acquisition of the Arizona plant closed on 1 April 2026. The existence of the acquiring company must be distinguished from the actual inclusion of the acquired business. Closing included an initial five-year agreement to continue manufacturing for Bristol Myers Squibb. Rovi 2025 consolidated accounts · January–September 2026 results and developments.
Plants, markets and international presence
The industrial footprint described for 2025 comprises five Spanish plants. Escúzar produces heparins; Granada produces active substance for messenger-RNA vaccines; Julián Camarillo and San Sebastián de los Reyes fill and inspect injectables. Julián Camarillo also manufactures ISM-based products. Alcalá de Henares combines oral solid dosage forms, assembly and packaging. The Huesca crude-heparin plant was under construction and is therefore not presented as operational production in 2025. Plants and industrial presence.
Sales by destination in 2025 were €285.353 million in Spain, €174.289 million in other European Union markets and €283.841 million in other countries. The direct presence described in the report covers Spain, Portugal, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Italy and Austria. Exporting to a country does not imply having a plant or subsidiary there. The Phoenix plant adds US industrial operations from its acquisition in April 2026. 2025 figures and their meaning
Consolidated net turnover was €743.483 million, compared with €763.749 million in 2024. Total profit for the year reached €140.364 million; profit attributable to the parent was €140.442 million, with a €0.078 million loss attributable to non-controlling interests. These are different measures, even though the two positive profit figures both round to €140.4 million. Rovi 2025 consolidated accounts · Full-year 2025 results.
Rovi also reported €756.1 million in total revenue. This measure adds €12.641 million of recognised grants to net turnover and is not the metric used here to select and compare companies. R&D expenses were €37.8 million in 2025. Contract manufacturing and pharmaceutical specialties followed different trends; the aggregate total alone does not explain each business line’s performance. Research and industrial digitalisation
The ISM platform aims to develop prolonged-release injectable formulations. Okedi already has European authorisation; Letrozole SIE and Risperidone QUAR are separate research programmes. In its update of 5 November 2026, Rovi reported that recruitment into the Letrozole SIE clinical programme, including phase III, had begun during the third quarter. It expected recruitment for the new QUAR studies to begin in the fourth quarter. An ongoing trial does not establish approval or proven clinical superiority. EMA: Okedi authorisation · January–September 2026 results and developments.
During 2025, Rovi began using electronic batch records at Julián Camarillo, introduced OEE equipment monitoring at Alcalá de Henares and expanded RoviQMS to handle changes, incidents and corrective actions. Use of electronic batch records at San Sebastián de los Reyes remained a 2026 objective. Cells IA contributes digital pathology activities through NucleIQ. These developments describe capabilities and implementation stages; they do not by themselves demonstrate fewer accidents or better clinical outcomes. Digitalisation and artificial intelligence.
People and work organisation
Rovi ended 2025 with 2,232 employees, including 2,110 in Spain. This is a year-end headcount, distinct from the average workforce of 2,216 reported in the accounts. The sustainability report identifies 2,045 permanent and 187 temporary contracts. The latter include internships, cover for absent employees and specific production needs, among other circumstances. Rovi workforce at year-end 2025 · Rovi 2025 consolidated accounts.
Research, laboratories, manufacturing, logistics and the sales network involve different workforce groups and exposures. Staff hired through temporary employment agencies are reported separately in health and safety indicators. Their accidents should remain visible alongside those involving directly employed staff. Health and safety systems and contractors
The 2025 report states that the health and safety management system covers 100% of employees and non-employees within its reporting boundary. It also reports that 90.37% of its own workers are covered by internally audited systems or systems audited or certified by third parties. This does not mean that every company holds ISO 45001 certification: the note expressly excludes Pan Química, Cells IA and entities it calls “subsidiaries”. Health and safety coverage and outcomes.
For contractors working at its sites, Rovi describes safety inspections, internal audits of coordination between employers and meetings with the prevention service of one of its main providers. Its zero-accident objective for 2030 includes value-chain workers present at its facilities. This is a future target, not an achieved result. Contractor safety management.
Specific preventive measures by plant
At San Sebastián de los Reyes, Rovi attributes improvement in the logistics job assessment—from moderate to tolerable risk—to Kardex automated storage, additional handling equipment, updated PPE for cryogenic hazards and changes to the tasks involving greater exposure. The report quantifies a 30% reduction in the assessed risk level; this should not be interpreted as a 30% fall in accidents. 2025 prevention measures by plant.
At Alcalá de Henares, a beacon and a repeater for the gas alarm panel were installed in chromatography to address asphyxiation risk. Wheels were also fitted to equipment to improve two manufacturing tasks, together with containment at a tablet press discharge to reduce chemical exposure. The company describes changes in risk categories for those job assessments. 2025 prevention measures by plant.
The limits of progress also matter. Granada did not achieve its target of reducing noise in vaccine production rooms by one decibel despite modifications to diffusers and connections. Across the group, the 2% incidence target for accidents without lost time was met, while the 1% target for lost-time accidents and the 3% target for agency and external-company staff were not. Training and post-accident campaigns accompany these measures without replacing assessment of their outcomes. 2025 prevention measures by plant.
Accidents, covered populations and comparison limits
For employees, the report records 92 accidents in 2025 compared with 86 in 2024. The 2025 total comprises 24 commuting accidents, 37 workplace accidents involving lost time and 31 without lost time. Days lost to accidents fell from 2,648 to 2,032. Zero work-related deaths and zero occupational diseases were reported for this population; a higher accident count and fewer lost days can coexist. Health and safety coverage and outcomes.
For non-employee members of its own workforce hired through temporary employment agencies, whose work or workplace is controlled by Rovi, the report gives 15 accidents compared with 30 in 2024, 31 lost days compared with 128, and zero work-related deaths. These figures do not automatically represent the entire supply chain. Including commuting accidents in the employee total also prevents direct comparison with counts from companies that exclude them. Health and safety coverage and outcomes.
Emissions and environmental controls
For 2025, Rovi reported 9,011.86 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent in Scope 1; electricity-related Scope 2 emissions of 36.79 tonnes on a market basis and 9,733.69 tonnes on a location basis; and 55,106.99 tonnes in Scope 3. The market method reflects contractual attributes of electricity and does not remove the emissions calculated using the grid mix. The inventory is consolidated using a control approach to operations. Greenhouse gas emissions.
Comparison with 2024 requires the restated baseline: Rovi incorporated emission factors for heparins and recalculated that year’s footprint. A difference against the figure originally published for 2024 should therefore not be presented as an operational increase or reduction without this adjustment. Offsetting through credits is reported separately and does not replace gross emissions from the activity. Greenhouse gas emissions.
Documented incidents and responses
The recall record published by Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare identifies three batches and gives 2 September 2021 as the start of the voluntary recall. MHLW: three-batch recall record. In September 2021, three batches of Moderna’s vaccine distributed in Japan were voluntarily recalled after metallic particles were found in one batch. The investigation published by Moderna and Takeda identified the most probable cause as friction between components in a ROVI Pharma Industrial Services stoppering station following incorrect assembly. It described procedure changes and a precision tool to maintain the required gap between components. Its health assessment concluded that there was no undue risk to patients; this conclusion is attributed to the investigating companies. As of the October 2021 report, no causal link had been established between the vaccine and deaths reported after administration from another batch. 2021 batch recall investigation · October 2021 Moderna and Takeda statement.
Separately, the November 2026 results communication said that the tax inspection covering 2020–2022 had ended with assessment records formalised on 6 July 2026. Rovi stated that it did not lead to penalty proceedings and described an agreed assessment arising from differences in tax interpretation, with effects of €1.9 million on profit or loss and €7 million on current liabilities for the inspected periods. The same communication includes adjustments relating to later years. This process is not presented as a conviction or a penalty. January–September 2026 results and developments.
What changed during 2026
The 5 November update reports €610.2 million of operating revenue for January–September, up 16% year on year. Contract manufacturing grew to €263.9 million, including the Phoenix plant and recovery of Madrid activity after its temporary closure in the first half of 2025 for adaptations to Annex 1 of good manufacturing practice. These are nine-month results with a different consolidation boundary: they are not annualised or substituted for the 2025 figures. January–September 2026 results and developments.
The Phoenix acquisition also generated a non-recurring €62.4 million bargain-purchase gain, subject to a valuation that remained provisional in September. Consequently, growth in 2026 profit cannot be interpreted entirely as recurring improvement in manufacturing or sales. Information on results, research and future operations retains the date of this communication. January–September 2026 results and developments.
