The company and reporting scope

Leroy Merlin España, S.L.U. is the Spanish company selling products and services for home improvement, renovation, maintenance and gardens. Its tax number is B84818442 and its registered address is Avenida de la Vega 2, Alcobendas, Madrid. The legal notice dates incorporation to 7 September 2006, a separate milestone from the brand’s commercial entry into Spain in 1989. Leroy Merlin Spain legal notice.

This profile uses the complete financial year ended 31 December 2025. The non-financial report states that its individual-entity reporting boundary matches the Spanish company’s accounts. Figures therefore belong to that entity, rather than to all of ADEO or to a Spanish consolidated group that the source does not report. Leroy Merlin Spain 2025 sustainability and non-financial report · PDF p. 13. Leroy Merlin Spain 2025 sustainability and non-financial report · PDF p. 179.

Founders, entry into Spain and AKI

The international business began in Nœux-les-Mines, France, with Adolphe Leroy and Rose Merlin. The company dates its origins to 1924 and celebrated its centenary in 2024. The original surplus-goods business developed into home improvement and DIY retailing. These founders belong to the brand’s French origins, rather than the incorporation of the present Spanish entity. Leroy Merlin France: 2025 impact report (brand history) · PDF p. 4; printed page 7. Leroy Merlin centenary: origins in 1924.

The first Spanish store opened in Leganés in 1989, followed by the Spanish online shop in 2012. AKI integration was another major development: the BORME announcement records approval on 26 October 2018 of the absorption of AKI Bricolaje España, S.L.U. by Leroy Merlin España, S.L.U., transferring the absorbed company’s assets and liabilities universally and dissolving it without liquidation. This is the published decision date, not an inferred later completion date. Corporate history in Spain. BORME: approval of the AKI merger, 2018.

Group and leadership

The company belongs to the French ADEO group. The non-financial report identifies ADEO Holding Iberia, S.A. as its parent, Carlos Malo Cantarino as chairman and director, and Alain Ryckeboer as CEO at the end of 2025. The March 2026 results release again identifies Ryckeboer as CEO. Leroy Merlin Spain 2025 sustainability and non-financial report · PDF p. 5. Leroy Merlin Spain 2025 sustainability and non-financial report · PDF p. 27. 2025 results, release dated 12 March 2026.

Group membership explains shared brands, tools and criteria, but does not turn ADEO’s worldwide revenue into Spanish sales. Nor can the two figures be added without removing overlap. This profile does not assign an ownership percentage to a family or ultimate shareholder without evidence of that stake. Leroy Merlin Spain 2025 sustainability and non-financial report · PDF p. 13. Leroy Merlin Spain 2025 sustainability and non-financial report · PDF p. 27.

Products, brands and services

The range combines building materials and tools with kitchens, bathrooms, flooring, doors and windows, lighting, electrical and plumbing products, decoration, heating and cooling, and garden equipment. Product sales sit alongside advice, project services and installation: a renovation can involve several product families and external tradespeople. The report cites a network of more than 4,000 partner businesses and professionals; these are not 4,000 additional employees of the Spanish company. Leroy Merlin Spain 2025 sustainability and non-financial report · PDF p. 6. Leroy Merlin Spain 2025 sustainability and non-financial report · PDF p. 7.

The company’s own-brand list includes Artens, Delinia, Dexter, Lexman, Naterial and Sensea. These are commercial product brands, rather than a list of legal subsidiaries. Leroy Merlin is the customer-facing retail brand, while the product brands organise different categories and equipment offers. Home Index and own brands.

Footprint and sales channels

The 2025 report places the business in every Spanish autonomous community and describes more than 135 stores in different formats and sizes. Physical stores operate alongside the website, app, telephone and WhatsApp. New 2025 developments included showrooms in Chamberí, Madrid, and Valladolid, and a Naterial garden store in Adeje, Tenerife. Leroy Merlin Spain 2025 sustainability and non-financial report · PDF p. 5. Leroy Merlin Spain 2025 sustainability and non-financial report · PDF p. 7. Leroy Merlin Spain 2025 sustainability and non-financial report · PDF p. 8.

The network also requires operational continuity. The report records the reopening of Aldaia and Massanassa following DANA storm damage, with their teams temporarily transferred to other stores during repairs. This illustrates a specific response involving premises and staff; it does not by itself measure the effectiveness of the entire emergency management system. Leroy Merlin Spain 2025 sustainability and non-financial report · PDF p. 8.

2025 revenue and selection basis

Net revenue was €3,826.799 million in 2025, compared with €3,589.618 million in 2024, an increase of 6.61%. The source table reports thousands of euros; this profile converts them to millions rather than replacing the amount with the rounded €3,827 million headline. The non-financial report explicitly connects it to the revenue line in the individual company’s accounts. Leroy Merlin Spain 2025 sustainability and non-financial report · PDF p. 11. Leroy Merlin Spain 2025 sustainability and non-financial report · PDF p. 39.

This is the editorial selection measure: net revenue of the Spanish entity over a complete year. The results release reports marketplace sales volume of €150 million, up 53%; that channel volume is not added to net revenue as though it were a second independent turnover figure. Supplier purchases and ADEO group figures are also separate measures. 2025 results, release dated 12 March 2026. Leroy Merlin Spain 2025 sustainability and non-financial report · PDF p. 13.

Profit and investment: distinct measures

The March 2026 release reports 2025 net profit of €177 million, EBITDA of €247 million and EBIT of €196 million. It also reports €135 million invested during the year. EBITDA, EBIT, profit and investment describe different aspects of the business and are not additional revenue. 2025 results, release dated 12 March 2026.

One difference must be preserved: the non-financial report lists €160.429 million under “profits obtained in Spain”. The documents reviewed provide no reconciliation with the release’s €177 million net profit. These are therefore not presented as equivalent figures, and no margin is calculated by mixing them. The selection measure remains net revenue, whose reporting boundary is identified. Leroy Merlin Spain 2025 sustainability and non-financial report · PDF p. 11. 2025 results, release dated 12 March 2026.

Workforce and employment relations

Average headcount in 2025 was 17,988.67, and 95.90% of average employment contracts were permanent. The average is calculated from the start and end of each month and then across the twelve months. It is not a snapshot of employees on 31 December. Leroy Merlin Spain 2025 sustainability and non-financial report · PDF p. 62.

The report also gives average full-time-equivalent employment of 15,289, a different measure adjusted for working time. The 18,600 people described as the current workforce in the March 2026 release relate to a different date and do not replace the annual average. The company reports collective-bargaining coverage of 100% and worker-representation coverage of 94.57%. Leroy Merlin Spain 2025 sustainability and non-financial report · PDF p. 62. Leroy Merlin Spain 2025 sustainability and non-financial report · PDF p. 63. 2025 results, release dated 12 March 2026.

Training and development

The non-financial report records 578,460.44 training hours in 2025, equivalent to 32.16 hours per average employee. This covers different subjects, rather than occupational safety training alone. The calculation excludes interns and uses the theoretical duration of completed courses; it should not be interpreted as minute-by-minute attendance data. Leroy Merlin Spain 2025 sustainability and non-financial report · PDF p. 70.

Training combines business capabilities, personal skills and prevention. Assessing its value for OSH also requires suitable job-specific content, checks on learning and application in stores. The aggregate volume alone does not demonstrate a reduction in accidents. Leroy Merlin Spain 2025 sustainability and non-financial report · PDF p. 70. Leroy Merlin Spain 2025 sustainability and non-financial report · PDF p. 71.

Home Index and circular services

Home Index is Leroy Merlin’s own method for rating products from A to E using environmental and social life-cycle criteria. The report describes 33 criteria across eight pillars, plus bonuses. In 2025, 76.8% of sales came from products rated A, B or C, exceeding the 75% target. It is a corporate assessment tool, not independent environmental certification. Leroy Merlin Spain 2025 sustainability and non-financial report · PDF p. 42. Leroy Merlin Spain 2025 sustainability and non-financial report · PDF p. 43.

The method changed in January 2025, so the 2024 figure of 56.9% is not directly comparable with the later 76.8%. Changes included materials, emissions, warranties and spare-parts availability. The company also reported its Second Life service in 80% of stores in 2025, with a target of 100% in 2026; the latter is a target, not a 2025 achievement. Leroy Merlin Spain 2025 sustainability and non-financial report · PDF p. 43. 2025 results, release dated 12 March 2026.

A 2026 development: La Laguna

On 28 January 2026, the company inaugurated its relocated La Laguna store in Tenerife, with public opening announced for the following day. It reported €65 million invested and a 19,000 m² store within a 40,000 m² complex. This is a relocation, not an opening that can automatically be counted as a net increase in the store network; the €65 million is also not added to 2025 investment. La Laguna relocation, release dated 28 January 2026.

The project includes AI-assisted product location, online-order lockers and a loading area for professional customers. Most of the approximately 300 staff came from the previous store. The physiotherapy room, gym and rest areas are reported staff facilities, with no quantified health outcomes provided in the release. La Laguna relocation, release dated 28 January 2026.

OSH organisation and participation

Prevention is organised through an in-house service with regional operational functions and corporate design and monitoring functions. The report describes eight working groups, including retail fixtures, supply chain, and construction and maintenance. This connects store risks with decisions about equipment, goods flows and premises. Leroy Merlin Spain 2025 sustainability and non-financial report · PDF p. 72.

According to the company, every store has a trained Tutor Safety role supporting safety induction, procedures and the management system. A national joint management-worker health and safety committee meets quarterly. Safety First and Human First are corporate initiative names; their existence does not replace checking whether controls are implemented or assessing results. Leroy Merlin Spain 2025 sustainability and non-financial report · PDF p. 72. Leroy Merlin Spain 2025 sustainability and non-financial report · PDF p. 72.

System coverage, certification and sensitive workers

The company states that its health and safety management system covers 100% of its workforce. It also reports internal audits in every store and annual surveillance of ISO 45001 certification obtained in 2021. System coverage and certification scope are different concepts: this profile attributes the statement to the report, without assigning a site list or validity period to an original certificate that was not inspected. Leroy Merlin Spain 2025 sustainability and non-financial report · PDF p. 72. Leroy Merlin Spain 2025 sustainability and non-financial report · PDF p. 73.

The report includes a procedure for workers particularly sensitive to occupational risks. Its practical importance lies in connecting fitness-for-work conclusions with job assessment and necessary adjustments. Stock replenishment, load handling and customer-facing tasks can impose different demands; assessment needs to address actual duties while protecting the person’s clinical information. Leroy Merlin Spain 2025 sustainability and non-financial report · PDF p. 72. Spanish Supreme Court: judgment 1284/2025, CENDOJ copy on Laboroteca · PDF p. 7.

2025 accidents and frequency

In 2025 there were 170 lost-time accidents and 328 accidents without lost time, or 498 accidents in total. The recordable-events table gives 500 after adding two occupational disease cases. Fremap’s methodological note says the non-lost-time category includes commuting accidents; identical exclusions should not be assumed across all indicators. Leroy Merlin Spain 2025 sustainability and non-financial report · PDF p. 73. Leroy Merlin Spain 2025 sustainability and non-financial report · PDF p. 74.

Lost-time accident frequency was 6.4 per million hours worked, compared with 7.9 in 2024, on 26,481,273 hours in 2025. Lost-time accidents fell from 203, but the target of frequency below 6 was not achieved. This indicator’s improvement does not mean that all measures of harm improved. Leroy Merlin Spain 2025 sustainability and non-financial report · PDF p. 73. Leroy Merlin Spain 2025 sustainability and non-financial report · PDF p. 74.

Lost days, severity and boundaries

Days lost to accidents increased from 7,135 to 7,986, while severity rose from 0.28 to 0.30 lost days per thousand hours worked. Occupational disease accounted for 79 lost days, compared with 89 in 2024. Reading frequency and severity together avoids assuming that fewer lost-time accidents necessarily mean less absence. Leroy Merlin Spain 2025 sustainability and non-financial report · PDF p. 73. Leroy Merlin Spain 2025 sustainability and non-financial report · PDF p. 74.

The company reports zero fatalities among employees and other workers working at its sites in 2025 and 2024. That boundary is not the entire global supply chain. In addition, the 2024 recordables table gives 485, while the separate tables show 485 accidents and one occupational disease case. Without an explanation of this difference, no year-on-year recordable-event trend is constructed. Leroy Merlin Spain 2025 sustainability and non-financial report · PDF p. 73. Leroy Merlin Spain 2025 sustainability and non-financial report · PDF p. 74.

Workers in the supply chain

Supplier management combines ethical commitments, human rights, audits and follow-up of non-compliance. These mechanisms extend the prevention perspective beyond the company’s own workforce, but their scope must be distinguished from Spanish store accident indicators. Leroy Merlin Spain 2025 sustainability and non-financial report · PDF p. 82. Leroy Merlin Spain 2025 sustainability and non-financial report · PDF p. 83.

The report itself acknowledges an important limitation: there is no formal direct dialogue with supplier workers, with engagement channelled through their employers. Although Whispli accepts anonymous reports, the company says it cannot assess those workers’ awareness of, or trust in, the mechanism because it lacks direct access to them. Having a channel and demonstrating its effective use are different forms of evidence. Leroy Merlin Spain 2025 sustainability and non-financial report · PDF p. 84.

Electricity and emissions

In 2025, 99.99% of reported electricity was renewable, and 39 stores had photovoltaic installations, with renewable generation of 9,003.38 MWh. The percentage concerns electricity, not all energy consumed or an absence of emissions. Leroy Merlin Spain 2025 sustainability and non-financial report · PDF p. 39.

Scope 1 emissions were 2,095.00 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent, down 18.79%; market-based Scope 2 emissions reached 21,454.43 tonnes, up 10.65%. The report links the latter movement to changes in emission factors used by ADEO for guarantees of origin and to increased consumption. This does not support describing the overall picture as a general reduction. Leroy Merlin Spain 2025 sustainability and non-financial report · PDF p. 40.

Scope 3 emissions were 13,223,294 tonnes, dominated by the use of sold products. More than 99.4% of the information used in their calculation came from secondary data; 2024 data were also restated. The figure illustrates the weight of the value chain, while its precision and comparability depend on those methods and estimates. Leroy Merlin Spain 2025 sustainability and non-financial report · PDF p. 40. Leroy Merlin Spain 2025 sustainability and non-financial report · PDF p. 41.

A judgment on workplace adjustments

Spanish Supreme Court judgment 1284/2025, dated 22 December 2025, dismissed Leroy Merlin España’s appeal concerning the August 2022 dismissal of a garden-products sales employee following a finding of unfitness for work. The court held that the company had not proved the necessary efforts to adjust the job, offer a suitable alternative or establish that these measures would impose an excessive burden. Spanish Supreme Court: judgment 1284/2025, CENDOJ copy on Laboroteca · PDF p. 1. Spanish Supreme Court: judgment 1284/2025, CENDOJ copy on Laboroteca · PDF p. 8.

The order upheld and expressly declared final the Madrid High Court of Justice judgment of 20 June 2024, which classified the dismissal as unfair, rather than void. This specific case provides context on how health-surveillance findings translate into employment decisions. It does not establish non-compliance across all stores or independently explain accident indicators. The source reviewed is a complete CENDOJ-format copy hosted by Laboroteca. Spanish Supreme Court: judgment 1284/2025, CENDOJ copy on Laboroteca · PDF p. 7. Spanish Supreme Court: judgment 1284/2025, CENDOJ copy on Laboroteca · PDF p. 8.

What the evidence verifies

The report provides tables and definitions for the main economic, employment, environmental and safety measures. EY issued limited assurance on the non-financial report and additional sustainability information on 20 April 2026. That conclusion has the scope of a limited assurance engagement; it is not presented here as an audit of the full financial statements. Leroy Merlin Spain 2025 sustainability and non-financial report · PDF p. 179. Leroy Merlin Spain 2025 sustainability and non-financial report · PDF p. 182.

Reading the sources together preserves differences in boundaries and dates: the Spanish entity versus the group, average employment versus current headcount, management-system coverage versus certification, and an announced project versus an annual result. Corporate information is attributed to the company, while the judicial case retains its exact entity, date and decision. Leroy Merlin Spain 2025 sustainability and non-financial report · PDF p. 13.
