ONP as a pension-component operator
ONP’s SCTR activity serves a specific financial protection function for occupational harm. It should not be equated with the entire Sistema Nacional de Pensiones. Retirement pensions and SCTR benefits have different qualifying events, records and procedures, even when the same institution is involved in both areas.
The events covered
Institutional information includes disability, survivors and funeral expenses arising from occupational accidents or diseases. Occupational causation and insured status form part of the assessment. Coverage does not mean that every loss of earnings, ordinary illness or death gives rise to an ONP SCTR benefit.
Quotation and policy issue are different steps
The state platform publishes separate services for requesting a quotation and issuing a policy. The FAQ portal requires identification of the policyholder by tax number and describes payroll information used for the premium. A price estimate alone does not prove active insurance: proposal, contracting and effective inception must be distinguished.
Endorsements and personnel changes
ONP explains that adding workers to an issued policy can require an endorsement and additional premium. Administration therefore continues after issue. Earnings declarations and worker details should reflect the insured situation. A previously issued certificate does not automatically include later personnel changes.
Healthcare and prevention beyond pension payment
SCTR Salud addresses healthcare through the relevant provider; an ONP pension policy does not replace it. Employers also retain prevention obligations. Coordinating records, coverage and controls keeps financial protection separate from medical care and from the actions intended to prevent occupational accidents and diseases.

Does joining a pension system amount to buying SCTR?
No. Ordinary pension affiliation and complementary occupational risk protection are different relationships and need to be identified separately.
Can new workers be added after policy issue?
The ONP portal provides for additions through an endorsement and any corresponding extra payment. The amendment must follow the relevant requirements.
