What G.050 is
G.050 is the safety-during-construction standard in Peru’s National Building Regulations. It establishes safety criteria and conditions for executing works within its scope. It must be used alongside other provisions applicable to the activity. The reference G.050 does not, by itself, identify a plan prepared for a particular construction site.
Plan before execution
Safety must be incorporated into site organisation and resources. SENCICO highlights the importance of a safety and health plan for every construction project, linked to actual risks and control measures. A plan should not be limited to a standard folder: it must reflect stages, responsibilities, resources and foreseeable changes as work develops.
Physical site conditions
Access, circulation, housekeeping, protection of dangerous areas and work equipment require attention from site preparation onwards. Conditions change when excavations open, routes are modified or trades work together. Construction-site safety must be checked on the ground, rather than through documentary declarations alone.
Training and suitable equipment
Instructions must correspond to the tasks and equipment used. Selecting personal protection does not remove the need to organise work or control hazards at source. Those responsible check the condition of ancillary equipment and the preparation of its users. Where a task requires specific competence, a general welcome briefing is insufficient to demonstrate it.
Coordination example
In a hypothetical example, a construction phase changes pedestrian access while work at height continues. The responsible person reviews routes and interaction areas before permitting passage. Instructions are updated and the installed measure checked. The standard becomes useful when its criteria become concrete decisions, with responsible people able to act during execution.
Relationship with the sector regulation
G.050 must be read together with the general OSH framework and the sector regulation approved by DS 011-2019-TR. Mentioning one reference should not be treated as automatically establishing all obligations under the others. Verifying a site requires identifying the specific requirement, the provision establishing it and evidence of its application, using the corresponding official versions.
